Maharaja Indian Restaurant

Designing Maharaja Indian Restaurant, a 40-seated restaurant in Ontario, follows a structured approach, starting with conceptualization and progressing into technical detailing. The process begins with ideation in Procreate, where initial design ideas take shape through material exploration, bubble diagrams, and rough floorplan sketches. After defining the spatial layout, the focus shifts to reception millwork design to establish a welcoming first impression. Moving into AutoCAD, the project advances with precise floorplans, bar detailing, and booth detailing, ensuring a cohesive and functional restaurant design.

Ideation Stage

The ideation phase for Maharaja Indian Restaurant, a 40-seated restaurant in Ontario, begins with material exploration, incorporating traditional Indian elements like carved wood, brass inlays, marble, and textured walls, complemented by off-white walls for a balanced and elegant look. A bubble diagram helps define functional zones such as the reception, dining area, bar, and kitchen, ensuring smooth circulation. The floorplan ideation involves sketching different layout possibilities to balance aesthetics and functionality. Additionally, the millwork design for the reception is conceptualized, featuring intricate detailing that reflects Indian craftsmanship and sets the tone for the restaurant’s ambiance.

Transition to Autocad

After finalizing the ideation phase, the design moves into AutoCAD for precise detailing, ensuring functionality, aesthetics, and adherence to building codes. This stage also includes finish specifications to maintain the intended ambiance.

Key Plans in AutoCAD:

  1. Floorplan – A detailed layout defining seating arrangements, bar positioning, kitchen zones, and circulation paths to optimize space in the 40-seated restaurant.
  2. Reflected Ceiling Plan (RCP) – Specifies ceiling elements, lighting fixtures, HVAC placements, and decorative ceiling details for balanced illumination and aesthetics.
  3. Furniture, Fixtures, and Equipment (FFE) Plan – Includes precise placement of booths, tables, chairs, bar counters, reception desk, and decorative elements, ensuring comfort and style.
  4. Communication Plan – Lays out electrical and technology components, including power outlets, POS system connections, Wi-Fi routers, and audio systems for seamless operation.
  5. Interior & Exterior Elevations – Detailed drawings showcasing wall treatments, millwork details, and façade design, ensuring an authentic and visually appealing look.
  6. Finishes – Specifies materials for walls (off-white paint), flooring (porcelain tiles or wood), millwork (carved wood, brass inlays), ceiling treatments, and decorative elements to create a cohesive design.
